OUR FANTASTIC CONTENT CREATORS

Following on from HebCelt 2023, we were delighted that Sophie returned as a YIN Content creator team leader in 2024 (https://yin.scot/young-islanders-get-involved-at-hebcelt-2023/)

Sophie joined us in 2023 as a Content Creator for HebCelt. This year she returned taking on more of a leadership role, being the main contact for Maimie and Hope (YIN Young People).

While her team was out in the festival grounds, Sophie worked closely backstage with Siobhan, Lily and Hannah from the Innes and Campbell Communications Team. She helped with getting photos of content that they specifically wanted, such as: pirates and mermaid themed outfits, festival hairstyles, and of the musicians performing.

Sophie was shown by Lily of a specific TikTok trend that the team wanted to use with the sunglasses that Maimie and Hope had purchased. Once the photos were sent to the group chat, that was created, Sophie used her TikTok account to access the template called Day & Nite Sunglasses which then lead her to the app CapCut where she proceeded to add the best photos into the video. She didn’t need to add the music or arrange the photos in a certain order because the template had provided that for her.

On Saturday at 1pm, the Young Islanders Network, in partnership with HebCelt, held the very first colour dash! It was inclusive event for everyone. Sophie was in charge of throwing the orange powdered paint at the group as they went past her but she always seemed to either throw it too high that it would miss them or too low where it landed on the ground but it didn’t matter because everyone was enjoying themselves anyway and having a good time.

After the colour dash, her leggings, arms and trainers were covered in the orange.

THE TIKTOK GLASSES TREND

As part of their roles as content creators at HebCelt, Maimie and Hope decided to make a TikTok. Inspired by the “sunglasses trend” on TikTok, the duo wanted to put a HebCelt spin on this fun concept. However, before setting foot on site they first had to prepare. They took a trip to the town centre and after much debate and discussion, they finally decided on a winning pair of shades. The shades were then decorated using chalk pens (which in hindsight was a terrible idea as it kept rubbing off) and old art supplies which Maimie had kept in storage for going on a decade. Luckily, the stunning shades were ready and raring to go just in time for HebCelt.

Over the next 3 days, Maimie and Hope engaged with the lovely festival goers and pulled together an ensemble of incredible selfies of them wearing the sunglasses. This experience was enjoyed thoroughly by Maimie and Hope as they showed off their collective creativity whilst also getting the benefit of experiencing HebCelt. This was Hope’s first ever time at HebCelt and it is safe to say that it won’t be her last! The duo were rewarded for their efforts by seeing the final product (which was pulled together by the amazing lead content creator Sophie) on HebCelt’s instagram page.

NEW for the 2024 HebCelt was the Young Islanders Network COLOUR DASH

This year in partnership with the HebCelt Festival, Young Islanders Network brought something new for the Festival Fringe. As a way to keep the festival fun going outside the main event, participants young and old were invited to sign up to take part in a free colour dash from Porter’s Lodge to the Bridge, past the Rugby pitches. There were 100 free spaces which were quickly snapped up!

It was fantastic to see lots of smiling faces as they sprinted back and forth from the posts until the paint was all done. Despite the damp conditions all week, there was a welcome break for the colour dash as the sun shone, illuminating the rainbow of colours splattered across everyone!

There was much fun to be had for the paint throwers too, who included Sophie, Paul and some of our newer members Kate, Sarah and Chloe. You can see that they got a good dose of colour too on the day! This was a great example of community participation and there was the opportunity for participants to make a donation to the local Macmillan Cancer charity team who are the selected charity for the HebCelt festival.
